Why are there ads when you cook a dish!?

I played this game for a while and then I stopped. Now that I am back playing the game theres ANNOYING and USELESS ads that pop up and if youre not either quick enough or accurate enough to exit out of the pop ups in time it drags you to the App Store and this decision to let ads pop up as you try to select a dish is severely making me re-consider playing this game.
